WORLD WATER DAY 2021
Updated: Mar 23
On 22 March 2021, World Water Day will be celebrated in an online event, raising awareness of the global water crisis. A core focus of the observance is to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 6, namely water and sanitation for all by 2030. World Water Day celebrates water and raises awareness of the millions of people living without access to it.
The theme of this year’s World Water Day is Valuing Water. More than being about its price, water has enormous and complex value for households, food, culture, health, education, economics and the integrity of our natural environment. Without a full understanding of water’s true, multi-dimensional value, the world will be unable to safeguard this critical resource for the benefit of everyone.
On 22 March, the United Nations World Water Development Report will be released, focussing on the same topic as the campaign and recommending policy direction for decision makers.
