AVONDALE WINE ESTATE OPEN GARDENS
Updated: Nov 9, 2023
The Avondale Wine Estate in Paarl will open its gardens to the public on 21 and 22 October 2023. The event offers an opportunity to explore seven organic gardens on the estate, including the cellar gardens and private gardens of Ginny Grieve, Suzanne Grieve, Ruth Robertson and Julie Warren-Codrington. Visitors can also view the historic Cape Dutch buildings, mature trees, vegetable gardens, streams, indigenous flower beds, rose gardens and a meadow.
The garden adventure can be concluded with a tasting of Avondale’s organic wines, or a meal at the acclaimed Faber Restaurant, which was recently honoured as the Best Garden Restaurant in Africa by the Haute Grandeur Global Excellence Awards.
Other activities on offer include guided garden and farm walks, tea in the gardens, picnics, plants for sale, cellar tours and tractor rides.
The entrance fee is R50 for adults, and no charge for children under 12. All entrance fees are donated to the Avondale Community Organisation, an NPO which provides a creche and play school, ensuring a safe and caring environment for the young children of the community.
