The Bridge is a mixed-use development in Stellenbosch, redefining urban planning by integrating sustainability, walkability and community-first design. It is led by Graham Wilson, an urban designer with a passion for human-centric spaces, and its aim is to create an integrated urban hub that prioritises people over cars.
The layout of the project is defined by three primary corridors, each serving a role in creating connectivity. The transit corridor establishes a direct link to the regional railway and public transport networks, reducing reliance on cars. The commercial spine (pedestrian boulevard) is a pedestrian-friendly zone with retail, dining and co-working spaces to stimulate business growth. The green belt corridor, a network of landscaped public spaces and parks, reinforces environmental sustainability and community well-being.
Sustainability is the foundation of The Bridge, which is aiming for a six star Green Star Precinct rating.
The development will follow proven principles from successful precincts like Melrose Arch in Johannesburg. It is poised to become an economic and social catalyst for Klapmuts and the greater Stellenbosch region.
